Sally Robinson
Sally Robinson was born in London. At the age of ten she won a junior exhibition to the Royal College of Music to study the violin with Pauline Scott, then went on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
As a freelance violinist Sally has worked with the Northern Philharmonic Orchestra, English National Ballet, Manchester Concert Orchestra, the Carl Rosa Orchestra, Northern Ballet and others.
An experienced teacher, Sally has a busy private practise and is a part-time member of staff for the Yorkshire Young Musicians programme, the Yamaha Music School and is an Associate Fellow at Bradford University.
Following an interest in the making of string instruments Sally learned how to make and restore violins. However she feels her greatest achievement has been the raising of her two grown up sons Adam and Duncan! She now lives near Bingley and plays an Italian violin made in 1760 by Andrea Molia.
The quartet was formed in 1989 and has given concert recitals both in this country and in Germany.
Our regular venues include Castle Howard, Harewood House, Ripon Cathedral, Hazlewood Castle, The Devonshire Arms and numerous other country estates, hotels and churches throughout the region. The Quartet has also featured in Yorkshire Television's popular series 'A Touch of Frost'.
